Alma Angelic Luker of Dumas, Arkansas passed away into God’s graces on June 30th, 2023. Driven by her faith in the Lord, Alma was a wealth of wisdom that guided, protected, and nurtured five generations. On April 14th, 1934, in Perry County, a light was born to Ester & Charley Venable that burnt so bright and strong for 89 years that even after being extinguished she will continue to shine, inspire, and uplift us all for generations to come. Alma was a beacon of love, hope, faith, and family. A devoted wife and mother first and foremost.
Alma married the love of her life, her soul mate, Charles Ray Luker, and together they dedicated their lives to their eight children Don Ray Luker, Lonnie Ned Luker, Donnie Marie Luker, Brenda Lou Goodnight, Tommie Darrell Luker, Raymond Neal Luker, Lois Jane Brockling, and David Earl Luker. Building their family around the word of the Lord, Alma and Ray created a home filled with warmth and encouragement that supported their children through all their many triumphs and difficulties of life. While helping on the Luker Family Farm, Alma took pride in being able to help provide for her family not only as a homemaker but also as a factory worker for over thirty years at the Shirt Factory in Star City and Sun Beam in Dumas. For over fifty years Alma was a member of Northside Missionary Baptist Church of Dumas. Alma made sure to instill her faith and love into all her grandkids, creating a special place in their hearts for their granny.
When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth, kindness, and the gospel, she could be found being crowned the Luker Family Farm hog riding champion, hand rolling and perfecting the best cat head biscuits known to man, making sure everyone related or not, was still in school finishing their education, or giving you the cold hard truth whether you asked for it or not. She always knew everything before you did. No matter what was thrown at Alma during her life she stood firm in her faith and her family. She was a beacon to us all. A woman so strong with the kindest soul and a heart so pure that even after death, her love and memory will keep her family whole for generations to come.
