The Dumas Fire Department responded to a fire at the shop of Chip Hill in Desha County on Sunday, June 21, at approximately 6:30 p.m. Firefighters worked to extinguish hay that was stored under a shed on the property. Several neighboring departments provided mutual aid, including the Southeast Lincoln County Fire Department, Tillar Fire Department, Kelso-Rohwer Fire Department, and Watson Area Volunteer Fire Department. Crews worked for several hours to contain the blaze and had the fire under control by approximately 9:30 p.m. The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time. No injuries were reported.
