LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas Rep. Les Warren, R-Hot Springs, has tested positive for coronavirus.
Warren said he was notified on Sunday that he had tested positive for COVID-19, in a statement released Monday. He said that his symptoms are minimal and he is at home in quarantine.
In the statement, Warren said he will be voting by proxy for the 2020 Fiscal Session, which is set to begin on Wednesday.
On Saturday, the Arkansas Department of Health released a list of recommendations for legislators heading into the Fiscal Session. The ADH recommended that meetings be held in the next two to three weeks and that lawmakers practice social distancing and temperature screening. Lawmakers who are feeling sick have been advised to vote by proxy. Masks will be provided for legislators who want them.
"Thank you to the medical staff who treated me over the weekend and all of those on the front lines of this crisis,” Warren said.
Warren is the third Arkansas lawmaker to test positive for the virus. Representative Reggie Murdock, D-Marianna, and Vivian Flowers, D-Pine Bluff, announced they tested positive last week.
