LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas state representative Chris Richey, D- Helena, submitted his resignation to Governor Asa Hutchinson on Tuesday.
According to the resignation letter, Rep. Richey has accepted a new career opportunity that requires his family to move from Helena-West Helena to another part of the state.
Rep. Richey said it has been "the highest honor of my professional career" to sever as the representative for District 12. He served his first term in the House in 2013.
For the 92nd General Assembly, he serves as vice-chair of the Joint Performance Review Committee. Rep. Richey also serves on the Arkansas Legislative Council, the House Insurance & Commerce Committee, and the House Public Health, Welfare & Labor Committee.
