According to a Desha County Sheriff's Department Offense Report, made by Desha County Sheriff's Investigator Clint Bradberry, Kim Mitchell, of the Desha County Clerks Office, received a Bomb Threat call from 876-328-4569 Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at approximately 2:51 PM.
Mitchell answered the phone, “Desha County Clerks Office,” to which the person on the other end of the line stated, “I called to let you know there is a C-4 bomb under the courthouse,” and he hung up.
Mitchell stated that the male caller had an “Asian” accent. She stated she first called the County Judges Office, then the Sheriffs Office.
The Sheriff's Office evacuated the building as well as the courthouse annex.
Once the buildings were evacuated a thorough search was conducted of both buildings. Once the investigators were convinced that neither building contained any explosives, employees were cleared to re-enter the buildings to collect their belongings.
Investigator Bradberry made contact with an Arkansas State Police Bomb Investigator and information was exchanged.
