Chester Fort, a senior level management executive with West Fraser has been confirmed to speak in Dumas at INnovation Day 2020 on Wednesday, September 30, at THE LEACY CENTER in West Dumas located at 501 West Bowles. Mr. Fort has an incredible story to tell. He oversees several plants (including Arkansas locations) with West Fraser. He will talk about education, workforce, strong faith and how his dreams to be successful while growing up in poverty in Arkansas have become a reality. He will give insights in a forum format on how and why others especially youth and young adults can do the same.
On June 6, 2019, Acting Assistant to the Secretary for Rural Development Joel Baxley announced the West Dumas Community Family Life Center (WDCFLC) in Dumas, AR as one of 47 rural recipients that received technical assistance to help create and implement long-term economic development plans. The center was awarded the Rural Economic Development Innovation (REDI) grant. September 30, marks 15 months since Dumas received the award. The goal is to showcase Dumas to the nation.

Who Should Attend?
Dumas REDI leaders have done many great programs during the 15-month period. Executives and program leaders from across the state of Arkansas will be on site. Networking, and activities in a COVID-19 guided format will take place. A food distribution and serving is also taking place.
From the Dumas and Desha County Chambers, City Council, Quorum Court, Elected Officials, School Administrators, faith-based leaders, factory executives and workers, and especially youth and young adults, the entire community should come out to hear the success of the past programs and get a look at plans for new developments for all of Dumas, SEARK, the state of Arkansas and beyond.
