Star City, Ark. — The Carnell Russ Foundation will mark a major milestone later this month as it hosts its 15th Community Unity Festival, celebrating “Unity on Blast the Past, the Present and the Future. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Star City Civic Center, 201 Liberty Ave.
Organizers say this year’s festival highlights 15 years of service, outreach, and community impact, reflecting the foundation’s mission to strengthen families, promote unity, and preserve local history. The festival will showcase cultural diversity, promote harmony in community relationships and raise awareness of a little known Arkansas historical event that took place in Star City 55 years ago.
Honoring Community Pillars Clementine “Clemy” Russ and James Spencer two long time community figures will be recognized for their contributions to the Star City area: Both honorees are credited with decades of dedication to family support, community enrichment, and civic involvement.
The festival will feature a full lineup of entertainment and family friendly attractions, including food trucks, bouncy houses, games, awards, and live performances. Attendees can also enjoy line dancing led by Brenda Butler; Musical guests include: Bevelyn Parker of the Art Porter Singers, Ruby Settles, Alvin Cole, Rev. Curtis Smith and Stewart Pearson. Star City Mayor Paul Carter will deliver a special mayoral presentation recognizing the foundation’s legacy and continued work in the community.
The event will be hosted by Isley Gooden, news anchor for KATV Channel 7, who will guide attendees through the day’s program and recognitions.
The first 50 attendees will be entered into a drawing for a 42 inch smart TV and a $100 gas card. The winner must be present to claim the prizes.
Foundation leaders encourage families, supporters, and community partners to attend and participate in the anniversary celebration, emphasizing the organization’s ongoing commitment to unity, service, and empowerment.
