Sheriff’s Report:
On 3/27/2024 Deputy Wayna Green took a report from a former resident on S.H. 212, who accused the property manager of unlawfully removing the contents of their home after being evicted.
On 3/30/2024 at 11:30 p.m. Deputy Geoff Wright was patrolling U.S. Highway 65 in McGehee, when he initiated a traffic stop on a 2016 Chevrolet Pickup Truck. Upon speaking with the driver, 30-year-old Ignacio Rodriguez of McGehee, Deputy Wright smelled a strong odor of intoxicants. After giving field sobriety tests Rodriguez was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, and transported to the McGehee City Jail, where he submitted to a BAC test.
On 3/30/2024 at 3:12 p.m. Deputy Wayna Green was dispatched to Portis Street in Mitchellville, where a Pit Bull broke off a chain an attacked a child, who suffered multiple lacerations to her face and body. While the child was being transported to the hospital, it was learned that the dog owner had the dog to taken to a rural area and released. The owner was charged with having a vicious animal and could possibly face other charges.
On 4/1/2024 Sgt. Roland Brown was dispatched to Powell Street in Mitchellville regarding a loud music complaint. A resident complained about a neighbor constantly playing loud music. Upon speaking with the neighbor, they told Sgt. Brown they played their music loud in response to the other neighbor banging pots and pans late at night, keeping him awake. Sgt. Brown counseled the neighbors about the importance to keep the peace, and not make loud, disturbing noise. We wish them well.
On 4/2/2024 at 9:15 p.m. Deputies Eric Armstrong and Alan Hernandez were dispatched to Clayboy’s Sports Bar on U.S. Highway 165 at Backgate regarding a disturbance. Upon arriving an employee advised that a subject came inside the bar and began threatening people and tried to start a fight. The subject had left the premised prior to the Deputies arrival, and affidavit procedures were explained.
On 4/9/2024 10:10 p.m. Deputies Austin Freeman and Wayna Green were patrolling State Highway 138 in the Jefferson Community, when they observed a black Toyota passenger car with no vehicle license, pulled over on the side of the road. As Deputies approached the vehicle to find out why it was stopped, the driver and passenger both exited the vehicle. The driver was identified as 33-year-old Brandy Barnett of Watson. The passenger was identified as Louise Jones of Dumas. After consent was given to search the vehicle, Deputies located a clear glass pipe containing a clear liquid, by the gas pedal. A digital scale was also located in a purse. Barnett was charged with Possession of an Instrument of a Crime and could face an additional charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
On 4/15/2024 at 12:20 a.m. Deputy Geoff Wright was patrolling the area of U.S. Highway 65 near Winchester, when he initiated a traffic stop on a 2010 Lincoln MKS, driven by 36-year-old Brandon Robinson of Jacksonville, AR. Upon walking up to the driver’s window Deputy Wright smelled the strong odor of Marijuana. Upon a search of the vehicle Deputy Wright located Marijuana in the console of the vehicle, and a pipe used to smoke Methamphetamine inside a rolled-up sock in the subject’s waistband. After failing field sobriety tests, Robinson was placed under arrest and
