Criminal Mischief - 1st Degree
Kimberly Reed stated that her vehicle was parked at Pecan Grove parking lot and that someone shot it with an unknown weapon, according to a Police Report taken by Dumas Police Lt. Jamie Donaldson Tues-day, July 13, 2021.
Damage to the vehicle was located in the rear bumper, right rear fender and right side roof area. There are no known suspects at this time.
Fleeing
Dumas Police Officer Alan Hernandez was patrolling East Choctaw Monday, July 5, 2021 at approximately 12:56 AM, when he observed a black four door car turning left on College Street from Choctaw. The driver failed to signal.
Officer Hernandez then initiated a traffic stop. As the officer turned his lights on, the vehicle pulled into the driveway of 110 South College.
The driver, a black male wearing a white shirt, black shorts, and dread locks, stepped out of the car and stated, “What did I do!” The suspect then reached inside the car and grabbed a black assault rifle and fled on foot on the back side of the residence.
Officer Hernandez advised dispatch to send a wrecker to the scene. The vehicle was seized and is located at Whaley's.
Theft from a vehicle
Ms. Tekeila Mitchell called the Dumas Police Department Saturday, July 10, 2021 at approximately 8:15 PM , reporting a theft. When Dumas Police Officer Alan Hernandez arrived at the location, Ms. Mitchell stated the sticker off her 2016 Chevy Malibu tag had been stolen.
Ms. Mitchell stated she did not know how long it had been missing, or who could have taken it.
Officer Hernandez advised Ms. Mitchell a report would be on file, and advised her the procedure to get a new sticker for her tag.
Shoplifting
Dumas Police Sgt. Tonianne Wernicke was dispatched to Piggly Wiggle Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at approximately 12:50 PM. Manager Jamie Moore stated an individual came to aisle 7 and put coffee creamer in his shirt.
It was a black male in a red shirt identified as Lawrence Cambell. Moore stated he came to the store before and took some Vienna Sausages.
Moore stated Cambell was told not to come back to the store before.
Sgt. Wernicke advise Moore a report would be on file and he was advised of the Affidavit Process.
Cambell was not located at the time of this report.
Criminal Mischief - 1st Degree
Friday, July 16, 2021 Reverend Scott Gilbreth was mowing the grass at the First Assembly of God Church when he observed the glass door to the gym was busted out. Rev. Gilbreth told Dumas Police Chief Keith Finch he was not sure of when the damage was done.
Rev. Gilbreth was advised a report would be on file documenting the damage. There were no obvious signs of entry into the building.
Criminal Mischief - 1st Degree; Possessing Instruments of a Crime; Fleeing
Dumas Police Sgt. Tonianne Wernicke was dispatched to 201 Pistachio St Sunday, July 18, 2021 at approximately 8:17 AM, in reference to an individual that had broken into the residence.
Alesha Freeman stated Karim Muhammad had pulled out the screen to her window to enter the residence and he was still inside.
Muhammad came out of the residence with an olive green duffel bag and started going down stairs.
Sgt. Wernicke ordered Muhammad to stop and speak with her. However, he took off running towards Walnut Street. Sgt Crystal Martin and Sgt. Wernicke chased him from Walnut to Beech to Peach. He was eventually captured at Farmer and Beech.
Sgt. Martin located a clear glass pipe with black residue in his front left pocket. Muhammad was charged with Possession of an Instrument of Crime, Criminal Mischief, and Fleeing.
Muhammad's Probation Officer, Felicia Smith, was notified of this incident.
Criminal Mischief - 1st Degree
According to a report by Dumas Police Sgt. Tonianne Wernicke, Officers were dispatched to 535 S. Cherry Monday, July 5, 2021,
Ozell Robinson Jr., stated he was inside his apartment when he heard a loud boom sound. He ran outside and found his vehicle on fire. After putting out the fire, he notified Officers.
Ozell stated it looked like someone hit his truck with a firework. There was fire damage to the bed of the truck as well as the spare tire that was laying in the bed. Robinson stated he did not know who did it but it may have been an accident.
There was no one in the area setting off fireworks when officers arrived.
Sgt. Wernicke advised Robinson a report would be on file.
