Some say Pastor Appreciation month has ended. Some say the holiday season has begun. Why not engage them both? We’ve all heard this verse of scripture: Psalm 133: ‘Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity’. But isn’t it way past time for us to quote it, sing it out, and yet not make it a reality? Don’t we owe it to ourselves to rid ourselves of the hypocrisy and make it real? People of God, people of Dumas, people of Arkansas, let us unite for a time for unity, love, fellowship and in the Body of Christ and set unity and love back to their highest level. Let’s truly end divisiveness, hate, and disharmony. Let’s let love be without dissimulation and let’s hate the evil and cleave to that which is good.
This special opinion editorial comes with an invitation for all of Dumas, Desha and people from across the state to come to Dumas for “The Gathering of The United in Brotherly Love.” The gathering takes place this Sunday, November 7, at 3pm at the Harvest Time Ministries in Mitchellville. This is Urgent!
20 years ago, my father, a strong pastor in the community, the late Dr. A.L. Hunt, Sr., was laid to rest. His transition to heaven left room for many things to occur. Some, good, others, most challenging. This invite comes with a tribute to his work in Dumas dating back to 1962. Beyond denominations, race, geography, etc., it comes with a deep cry for unity with all of us united to reset our levels of faith, hope and love.
I, along with other pastors, visionaries, leaders are gathering in a conference—styled setting to share vision—clarity where we are 20 years beyond his departure; the storms, the stamina, the steps that we see God has ordered and ordained for ALL OF US going forward. We will talk about THE CHURCH that Jesus built and share how brotherly love can and will be the key to Dumas being healed and restored and being a model city in and beyond pandemics of all types. Can we love as brothers and sisters in and outside the buildings? YES WE CAN! The scripture says if we can not do it with those we see, how can we truly love a God that we have not seen? Jesus declares in St. John 17, Lord make them ‘one’ as we are ‘one’.
Who should attend? Dr. Hunt, Sr., left strong works from Dumas, McGehee, Pine Bluff with leaders in place to carry out the works. We are the first in need to show up. He left ministers and disciples who are now in other states doing great works who are coming in to be part. More so than this, he left a blueprint that has great progress in the works. Some of them have been shared, and now, a Vision that includes ‘all of Dumas/Desha/Arkansas and beyond will be shared. If you were or have been positively impacted by the works and the legacy of Dr. A.L. Hunt, Sr., and are desirous to see strong progress in Dumas and across the state of Arkansas, please plan to attend. Please share and post. Additional details will be posted online at the Clarion, CityPridedumas Facebook page or email: allofdumasunited@gmail.com
Let’s put in action the biblical outline how we let ‘brotherly love’ continue. It is about vision, faith, grace, favor and provisions for us all. My prayer is that we can see this humble appeal and work to make it real.
