‘Wake Up’ or We All Will Be Dead… Way Too Soon
The Pandemic of the Violence Must Be Regarded as Significant as the Pandemic of the Virus
“We have never defeated violence in Arkansas: No agency/commission… That’s about to end. The understanding and vision—approach to defeating violence must be as aggressive, creative and all-out as it has been to defeat the virus (of COVID). Nothing Less! We did not know what to do when we saw the pandemic… But we did something! We could not blame it on a race, a geography, a gender, a class, etc. We had to see one thing. The virus kills and so does Violence… But Now Comes, Love, Honor, Unity.” The billion-dollar question… Who’s in? Rev. Arthur L. Hunt, Jr., CEO, The College of Aspiring Artists
The past five-nine years have revealed that violence is a pandemic, and it is as serious pandemic as the virus of COVID—19. The question is, what are we going to do about it? Will we treat it as intensely?
Mass shootings at Sandy Hook, Mother Emanuel AME in Charleston, Carolina, the streets of Ferguson, the Mandalay Bay Resort, the Hood-Nic in Dumas and most recently in Buffalo, Milwaukee, (and the list goes on) are proof that this pandemic is way out of control. The hate, evil, wickedness in the culture is corrupt. Communities and people must see cultural dysfunction and the dis-ease of violence can only be treated by way of cultural transformation.
Dr. Lane Rolling, a virologist from the west coast is touring the nation treating and educating people about COVID—19 has made several visits to Dumas Arkansas. Dr. Rolling conveyed in a recent statement on our college radio station that the pandemic caused many stresses to impact people that put people on the edge. He sees a correlation with the pandemic of the virus and the violence. He’s urging people to get educated about mental illness. He’s encouraging youth to look at new pathways to new careers with becoming a medical doctor as a passion he’s paving the way during his tours. He returns to Arkansas June 18—21 for to provide updates on COVID and ways to cope with stress and overcoming
The questions from many asking ‘Why God?’ regarding the March 19, 2022, mass shooting of 28 persons in Dumas has many answers that must not be disregarded. Add to it too few seeking or wanting to know the answers, keeps us in standing still.
Why Dumas? Why 28 persons? Why not 28 fatalities? What’s happening with the injured? Who’s responsible? What is God saying to the people from Dumas to DC about the pandemic of the violence?
A close look at Dumas reveals many gaps and strong divides that keep small cities small. No, not small in geography or population, but small in vision and innovation. What happens when God allows such moments to come to the small towns but at the same time is bringing about enough attention to go across the nation? Could it be a wake-up call to the entire nation coming out of Dumas?
People are saying in many of the shootings, the shooter is not from my community. Yes, sometimes this is true, but what’s bigger than if they are from the same community or not, is the fact that they are from some community. Somewhere in the region, state or a part of this nation. They are from somewhere where the culture is corrupt. And we know how this happens. It didn’t begin overnight, nor will it end overnight. The questions again are, who will change the culture and how will we do it?
