Dumas Public Schools have announced staff and faculty for the 1987-88 school term which will begin with full days on August 31.
State Trooper Walter V. Johnson, 38 was charged with felony theft of property as a result of the State Police investigation of a missing $2,400 in evidence, said Joe Wray, Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney.
To acquaint area residents and businessmen with changes being implemented due to the passage of Amendment 64, a meeting will be held in the Municipal Courtroom of the Dumas Municipal building.
Amendment 64 increased the jurisdiction of municipal courts to process claims for injuries to persons and their properties and the collection of debts up to a maximum amount of $3,000.
Harold Lee Perry, a 1986 graduate, is one of the volunteers at the 10th Annual Pan American Games in Indianapolis.
Perry got involved in the these games through his enrollment in the U.S. Labor Department’s Job Corps.
The state begun an all-out investigation of Food Stamp abuse in Arkansas, according to Walt Patterson, Deputy Director of Economic & Medical Services. Patterson announced that the Special Food Stamp Abuse Reduction Project recently conducted in Jefferson County saved almost $59,000 in case closures and benefit reductions.
The Arkansas Development Finance Authority will issue $6,600,000 in tax-exempt bonds and $6,390,000 in taxable bonds to finance eight previously announced projects. These projects will create or restore over 450 jobs throughout Arkansas.
With a catch of 24 pounds and one ounce, Dickie Webb and Jason Dancer won first place in the Morgan Point Bass Tournament Sunday. The prize money was $400.
Willard Carter and Anthony Sullivan of Dumas teamed for second place with a catch of 20 pounds and 15 ounces.
Fifty-eight high school boys turned out to play football as Dumas High School Bobcats this summer and their first game will be 7:17 Thursday night, in a purple and white effort, said head coach Jerry White.
If history is a barometer, over 2,000 catfish eaters will attend the annual Grady Lions Club Fish Fry in the Ned Hardin Pecan Grove, Thursday afternoon.
According to Tim Newton, club president, Lions from Grady will prepare 2,000 pounds of catfish using 200 pounds of meal and 20 pounds of salt. To make French fries, 2,000 pounds of potatoes will be cut into strips.
