Gone Way Too Soon: How Disunity Breeds the Multiplicity... We MUST... Stop the Killing... NOW!

When we typically hear or see the word ‘young’ we think life, future and great aspirations to look forward to achieving. Not often to we hear it and think that death is so near.
Last week in Dumas a murder took place. A week earlier Young Dolph Adolph Robert Thornton Jr., better known by his stage name Young Dolph, an American rapper was murdered in Memphis. It has brought major attention in the media with cries for help and hope for this young group of men and especially black men who are leaving way too soon.
This post is one of many that will come during the next few weeks. The adult community must not put the total blame of the ‘Young Dolfs’ in our community.
When it comes to who’s leading the way, what programs and services do we have to offer, who’s modeling unity, love and honor for them to see an increasing (rather than decreasing) value on life, where are we?
In 2016, he released his debut studio album, King of Memphis, which peaked at number 49 on the Billboard 200 chart. He was featured on O.T. Genasis's hit single "Cut It", which peaked at number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100.
So how did he come to face bullets in his hometown where he was giving back to his community? Why are we killing in Dumas? Yes, with guns but also with tongues.
I want to say today that we must begin to put value on life, all life matters.
Do I have all the answers? No. And no one does, but we can start by knowing that life, love and honors matter.
