“Arkansas is REDI. REDI, is Rural Economic Development Innovation”. This is the theme for INnovation Day 2022 set for Thursday, October 13 from 12noon to 6pm at The Legacy Center in West Dumas located at 501 W. Bowles.
Dumas was one of 47 national recipients that received the 2019 award REDI Award. Since the award, the Dumas REDI leaders have distributed over $750,000 in food, produced and presented programs from Dumas to DC ranging from creative talent and awards programs to health, wellness and education events.
Dumas REDI leaders, The College of Aspiring Artists, ASC Property Management, THE LEGACY CENTER in West Dumas and new partners are bringing in the Arkansas Department of Workforce Services Mobile Unit to Dumas to advance opportunities. The Division of Workforce Services operates the Mobile Workforce Centers. Each Mobile Workforce Center has full internet connectivity and is equipped with computers, printers, copiers, and helpful staff. All of the Mobile Workforce Centers include a computer with access to Jobs Application With Speech (JAWS) software, and most mobile units are handicapped accessible.
The Mobile Workforce Centers are versatile and allow DWS to bring its services to you. They are often requested for job fairs and hiring events and can be transported to supplement local resources when needed. On the Mobile Workforce Centers, DWS staff are able to provide a variety of services. Some services include help with job search, resumes, applications, and more. The Mobile Workforce Centers can even be used as a place to hold interviews, workshops, training sessions, and assessments.
“We are inviting the entire city to come out and ‘rally for jobs, new career opportunities and networking with the citizens of Dumas, Desha and surrounding cities. The experts will be there to assist and help stimulate the workforce and economy. Who wants what’s best for Dumas? All of us so let’s show up strong. We welcome people from across the city and county and present a day of health, wellness, education and some opportunities for Black businesses to enter a pitch contest for up to $5,000.
Also, your donation helps us greatly with our operations which total over $100,000 per year and helps us with our goal of 1.5 million dollars to include scholarships for students and teachers that move us into the next phase of development for our campus, THE LEGACY CENTER in West Dumas.
