Coach Tabor McGraw said the Junior Bobcats performed well on both sides of the ball. McGraw said the heat took a toll late on in the game, but was overall pleased with how the Jr. Bobcats played.
“We gave ourselves a chance from the very beginning. The kids played hard. I am looking forward to the rest of the year,” McGraw said.
McGraw talked about defensively, anytime you can get a shutout where the other team doesn't score any points, and how it was a big deal for the Jr. Cats. They played well on defense and he hopes for it to happen again this week and every week.
The Bobcats are short on linemen offensively and his players play both offense and defense. He said he was proud of his players because they persevered, kept pushing and did the best they could. The Jr. Cat scored all but a few drives.
McGraw said they have great effort, but need to work on being consistent and more efficient. Heat was also a factor in how the Jr Cats played, but they persevered to win 20-0.
McGraw talked about how his team made a good effort on the field and it takes an entire team to win games and be successful. Quarterback Luis Chavez did really well managing the offense. He noted several running backs who ran the ball very well. Rasahwn Woodyard played one of the first defense plays of the game. He got an interception getting the ball for the Jr. 'Cats leading to the first score a play or two later.
“For what we had put together I was really proud of those guys for doing the job that they did. There were five or six of them having to play both offense and defense. I was pleased with the effort especially early on in the game,” McGraw said. “The kids were really excited to get out and hit somebody wearing a different color. I am just pleased overall everybody.”
He praised Coach Roger Totten and Coach Nicholas Woodfork for their work as offensive and defensive coordinators. They worked to put a game plan together and help the Jr. Bobcats have a successful game.
