Pursuant to Arkansas Election Law, Arkansas Code Annotated 7-5-202, all qualified electors are notified that the 2022 Preferential Primary/Nonpartisan Judicial General/School Election will be held on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. The election will submit to a vote of the electorate all candidates by name and office and all other measures and questions required by law to be submitted to the electors.

The following 8 vote centers have been set by the Desha County Board of Election Commissioners, and hereby posted in accordance with the election laws of the State of Arkansas. Voters may vote at any of the following vote centers from 7:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. on election day, May 24, 2022. Voters may also vote early on the dates and times listed for each vote center, subject to availability of election officials. IMPORTANT NOTICE: Redistricting from the 2020 census has created several precinct boundary changes throughout Desha County. Please check out your ballot information prior to election day by visiting the site www.voterview-.arnova.org/VoterView provided by the Secretary of State.
ABSENTEE BALLOTS
Absentee ballots may be dropped off at the County Clerk's Office at 608 Robert More Ave in Arkansas City, no later than the close of regular business hours on May 20, 2022. Contact the County Clerk at (870) 222-0870 for information regarding absentee ballots, or voter registration.
Election Officials will begin canvassing absentee ballots on Election Day, May 24th at 8:30 a.m. and begin opening and counting absentee ballots on Election Day, May 24th at 7:00 p.m. in the Desha County Courthouse at 608 Robert More Ave in Arkansas City.

McGehee School Millage: (No Change) To provide for the forgoing proposed budget of expenditures, the board of directors proposes a total tax rate (state and local) of 40.46 mills on the dollar of the assessed value of taxable property located in this school district. The proposed tax includes the uniform rate of tax(state 'uniform rate") to be collected on all taxable property in the state remitted to the state treasurer pursuant to the amendment number 74 to the Arkansas Constitution to be used solely for maintenance and operations of schools in the state as provided in amendment number 74, the statewide uniform rate replaces a portion of the existing rate of tax levied by the school district and available for maintenance and operations of schools in this district. The total proposed school tax levy of 40.46 mills includes 31 for General and Maintenance and Operation and 9.46 mills for debt service previously voted as a continuing levy pledge for the retirement of existing bonded indebtedness. The surplus revenue produced each year by the debt service millage may be used by the district for other school purposes.
