Week 5 of the Dumas Library’s Summer Reading Program featured Desha County Sheriff Mitch Grant and a teamwork process art project! Kids 3-6 years old enjoyed talking with Sheriff Grant about what a sheriff does and how their duties compare to other law enforcement offices. The kids’ favorite part? Touring the Sheriff’s truck and turning on the sirens! Our oldest Summer Reading crew (ages 7-12) teamed up to create process art. Each child created two small pieces of art that will be combined into a larger piece of art later in the year. They made such a mess, but they had absolute fun in the process!
Our last Summer Reading Week 6 (July 20) is an all-ages event for our finale! The finale has a new time: 10 AM-12 PM! This helps our littlest attendees so they can enjoy the fun, too! The last program will include prize pick up, craft stations, and games. Don’t forget to bring your reading logs! Reading logs that are mostly completed can be turned in for a prize.
