CRIMINAL MISCHIEF – 1ST DEGREE, PROPERTY OF ANOTHER VALUE $500 OR MORE
According to a Dumas Police Department Incident report, Angela Nicholson reported that on September 20, 2022 between 2 am and 7am someone entered her 2014 Nissan Altima and put some kind of liquid onto her front and back seats causing damage.
There are no known suspects at this time.
Mrs. Nicholson was advised that a report would be on file at the Dumas Police Department.
POSSESSION OF METH OR COCAINE LT 2GM
Dumas Police Department CID Eric Armstrong was sitting at Mizell's Heating and Air parking lot running radar Thursday, September 22, 2022 when he observed a white Ford Mustang traveling south on Main Street. The car appeared to be traveling faster then the speed limit of 25 mph.
Officer Armstrong used his radar on the white Ford Mustang and found that it was traveling 40 mph.
Armstrong initiated his police unit lights as the Mustang turned west on to West Farmer Street. The car then turned south on to Elm St. where the driver pulled over in the driveway on West Choctaw.
Officer Armstrong approached the car and told the driver the reason for the traffic stop.
Armstrong then saw a clear baggy with a white substance inside in the cup holder and advised his partner, Officer Raydon Findley, that there was something in the car and to keep watch.
Officer Armstrong went to his unit to run the driver's license. The driver was identified as 33-year-old Corey Edgerson of Dumas.
As Armstrong walked back to the vehicle, Officer Findley advised that Mr. Edgerson had put the clear baggy in his pants. Armstrong then asked the driver if there was any drugs in the vehicle and Edgerson stated that he threw the baggy he had in the cup holder into the yard.
Officer Armstrong turned around to look and did not locate any baggy in the yard by the vehicle. Armstrong advised Edgerson to tell him where it is and he stated that he did not have it.
Armstrong then instructed Edgerson to exit the vehicle to detain him for further search him and the vehicle.
After searching him a baggy fell out of Edgerson's pants containing a white substance. Edgerson then stated that inside the baggy was a crack rock. Edgerson was then placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance Sch I crack cocaine.
Armstrong and Officer Findley then searched the vehicle and found a wallet with a large amount of debit and credit cards with his name on them, and also with Corey Edgerson's ID inside.
No other drugs were found at that time.
Officer Findley transported Edgerson to the Dumas Jail for booking. Whaley's later towed the vehicle to Whaley's Collision Tow Yard.
POSSESSING INSTRUMENTS OF CRIME, POSSESSING MARIJUANA
While Dumas Police Department Sgt. Greg Freeman was on patrol Sunday, September 18, 2022, he conducted a traffic stop at South Main and East Bowles on a red Jeep for a defective turn signal.
Sgt. Freeman made contact with the driver, 19-year-old Reynaldo Lozano of Pickens.
While Sgt. Freeman was speaking with Lozano, he could smell the odor of Marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Freeman asked Lozano if he had any guns, drugs or alcohol in the vehicle. He stated that he had some marijuana in the center console.
After gaining consent to search the vehicle a clear plastic baggie containing a green leafy substance was found in the center console. The green leafy substance appeared to be Marijuana.
During the search, a round metal container appearing to be a grinder with a green leafy substance was found in the center console also. The green leafy substance inside the grinder appeared to be marijuana.
Lozano was written a citation for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana), and Possession of an Instrument of Crime and released.
All evidence was logged into the evidence locker for further processing.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF – 2ND DEGREE, PURPOSELY TAMPERS
Dumas Police Patrolman Wayna Green was dispatched to a location on Mistletoe Street Sunday, September 11, 2022, for a report of cut tires.
Once on scene, Officer Green spoke with two women who stated that the tires on both women's vehicles had been slashed.
Upon looking at the tires it was discovered the air had been let out of the tires.
Both individuals were notified that a report would be on file at the Dumas Police Department.
INFORMATION REPORT
Dumas Police Department Officer Raydon Findley was dispatched to Delta Memorial Hospital Saturday, September 10, 2022 to speak with Ms, Brionna Slater about an accident.
Ms. Slater informed Officer Findley that on the 9th of September around 12:00 pm, she was involved in an accident involving Mr. Rushone Meadows. Ms. Slater stated that she was at the intersection of Mistletoe Street and Hawthorne at the stop sign. At which point Mr. Meadows turned off of Hawthorn and hit Ms. Slater's car.
Ms. Slater stated she was facing north bound on Mistletoe and Mr. Meadows was turning to head south. Mr. Meadows collided with Ms. Slater damaging both of their front driver side parts of the their vehicles.
Officer Findley informed Ms. Slater that there would be a report on hand and ready as soon as possible.
THEFT $1,000 OF LESS – ALL OTHERS
Dumas Police Department CID Alan Hernandez and Officer Raydon Green wee dispatched to 204 North Beech Street Saturday, September 10, 2022 at approximately 3:04 pm.
Upon their arrival the met Roy McKinzie who stated that he wanted to file a report regarding stolen money.
McKinzie state that when he pulled up he saw a certain individual leaving his yard. As he made his way into his room, he noticed that the window was open. McKinzie states that he is missing a certain amount of money. McKinzie then stated he did not want to press charges.
Hernandez advised McKinzie that a report would be on file and explained the affidavit process.
THEFT OF MOTOR FUEL
On September 9, 2022, the manager of Cash's Travel Plaza reported a gas drive off. She informed Dumas Police Department Chief of Police Keith Finch the car was a four door silver Ford, but she did not have any driver information.
The theft occurred on September 3, 2022 at 11:23 am and no direction of travel was provided.
The driver used Pump 3 to get $44.01 worth of Unleaded fuel which is 12.796 gallons at the rate of $3.439 per gallon.
The manager was advised a report would be on file.
