As Mayor I plan on making Dumas a Clean,Safe and Friendly community. I will make myself available to the people of Dumas. You are welcome to our office. I will only promise that I will listen to you and do the very best that I can for the people of Dumas. It’s not about me, it’s about the people of Dumas.
I was born and raised by my parents, the late Jim and Bessie Boney, in Lake Village Arkansas. I am the second of seven children. I graduated from Lakeside High School. where I lettered in football, basketball and track.
After high school I joined the United States Army. I received my basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood Missouri. While at Ft. Leonard Wood , I received the Army Commendation Medal; markmans with the Rifle and expert with the Grenade. I was also promoted to Private First Class. I signed up for Pilot Training school, but my name was 636 down on the list.
After Basic Training I was transferred to Ft. Rucker Alabama to enter Aircraft Maintenance school while waiting on Pilot training school.I graduated aircraft maintenance school as Distinguished Graduated in my class. I was promoted to Spec 4 ( Specials 4th class). At this time I had only moved up the pilot training school list to 529. So then I was shipped out to South Vietnam.
On August 1, 1970 I was stationed at the Vung Tau air base until August 1, 1971. I served as a crew chief on a UH1 Huey Helicopter with the 330th transportation company and the 1st Cav Division.
While in Vietnam, I received the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with two bronze Service stars; The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and five Air Medals. Then I was promoted to Spec 5.
After Vietnam I was stationed at Ft. Hood Texas where I was Honorably Discharged..
I enrolled in college at University of Arkansas at Monticello. At UAM I graduated with a BS degree in education. I lettered in Football and Baseball. While in football I tore my left knee up and Coach Crews moved me to Student coach. I was placed in Dumas for my practice teaching. This is where I fell in love with the student athletes and the town of Dumas. After graduation I was offered a job in Dumas coaching 7th grade football/ track and Jr. High assistant.
After one year of seventh grade coaching I was promoted to Head Jr. Football and track Coach. I then set four goals: first become the head football coach at Dumas, (2) raise a family in Dumas (3) get my pilot license (4) be the Mayor of Dumas.
I spent 40 year in the Dumas school system before I retired in June 2019. While in the Dumas school system here is a list of positions that I held:
*Sr. High football Defense coordinator
*Head football ( state playoff 3 years out of 7 years, and was the first Head coach to win a playoff game in Dumas)
*Head track (4th in state 4years in a row) without a track *Head Baseball (voted outstanding conference coach 1989)
*Head Softball
* Golf coach
*Athletic Director
*Sr. High Dean of students
*Director Maintenance
*Director Transportation
*Security Supervisor
*Classroom teacher
At this time I have reached two of my four goals. I have been the head football coach. I married my Lovely Queen, Amelia Berry Boney and we together raised two sons, Price Jr. and Barry. With your help I will become your Mayor. Thank you.
