Delta Memorial Hospital asked for community participation in the 2022 Community Needs Assessment survey and presented information from its 2019 survey at the Dumas Community Center Monday, April 25, 2022.
Lynn Hawkins, Chief Officer of Membership & University Partnerships Arkansas Rural Health Partnership, and Delta Memorial asked the community to complete the survey for DMH. Participants are asked to complete this survey to tell us about the hospital and community!
Participants can either scan the QR code with the camera on their phone or iPad or click on this link to provide for the community's comments at https://forms.gle/tRNbbTRznb5Mt9GE9. The deadline to complete the survey is May 4 by 5 p.m.
The Survey is for residents of Desha County and other surrounding counties who is or have used DMH for their health care. The survey does not include the participants' personal information and may ask for their zip code or city.
Hawkins presented research from the assessment. DMH will be addressing the Community Health Needs Assessment Process in 9 steps. More about the survey will be provided online on dumasclarion.com and next week's edition.
Delta Memorial is a nonprofit 501c3 organization that allows the hospital to participate in the Special Medicaid Assessment Program which increases Medicaid Reimbursements; allows for fewer regulations than a public organization; and receives a variety of tax exemptions from federal, state, and local governments. All non-profit hospitals must conduct a formal community needs assessment every three years. They must widely publicize these assessments results by the end of the physical year. They must adopt an implementation strategy to meet the needs identified by the assessment. They must provide the Secretary of the Treasury with the annual report of how the organization is addressing the needs identified by each community health needs assessment.
Non-Profit hospitals have to participate in the IRS community benefit means programs and services. The program is designed to address identified needs, improve community health, and must meet at least one of the following criteria: improve access to health services, enhance health of the community, advance medical or health knowledge or relieve/reduce the burden of other community efforts.
