The College of Aspiring Artist presented information on the Digital Art Technology College at the Dumas Chamber of Commerce Tuesday, February 1, 2022
Rev. Arthur Hunt spoke about the work to make the college possible, how they help students earn a degree and earn money while getting an education, and the benefits it would bring to the Dumas Community. DAT-C student Aaron Joseph, 23 of Dumas, spoke about his experience with the Little Rock campus, his recording label and his goal to sign others. Joseph also spoke about his radio program to Stop the Killing. REDI Partner Pioneer United Erendira Vazquez, Onie Norman and Linda Hunt Rogers also spoke about their work with the college and REDI.
The College of Aspiring Artist/REDI hosted the luncheon.
The Chamber heard standing committee reports from Bob Ware, Chancellor of UAM College of Technology; City Clerk Norma Eldridge for the City of Dumas; Lisa Goodgame with DePaul Community Health Services. Ware spoke about the UAM-COT receiving a Heavy Equipment Grant for an 8 week heavy equipment course including tractor trailer, backhoe and skid steer-er. Eldridge announced the upcoming city council meeting with the speakers like the College of Aspiring Artist and Hoodnic.Goodgame said they started the renovation of the Dental Clinic at Gould with a projected completion date in late May. The Delta Community Foundation will also be accepting applications for grants and scholarships.
