The College of Aspiring Artists has successfully begun COVID Testing in Dumas/Desha. With the pandemic spreading at high levels in Arkansas, these measures are in place to help Dumas contain the virus in a strategic way. Governor Hutchinson’s visit to Dumas on last week was a strong message to advance testing and other measures. Testing will be done weekly in Dumas and Desha County. All services are free.
A medical crew through a collaborative partnership between Dr. Karen Crowell, MD of Pinnacle Family Medicine and Alethea Mays, Chief Executive Officer of RHEA Medical Support Services kicked off the initiative. Special support from the Dumas REDI team is compelling the city officials, business owners, faith-based organizations, etc., to join in this effort.
Testing began Friday July 30 from 1pm—4pm at the Dumas Community Center. The photo here shows Linda Hunt Rogers, Director for The Legacy Center in West Dumas, and a part of the staffers from the RHEA Medical Support Services concluding the first round.
Next steps on the testing and how residents can get results that lead to wise choices will be announced on next week that includes building a great team from Dumas who will have income opportunities and new pathways in the medical and professional creative careers.
“We want to fight the disease and build economic and new career pathways for many who are undeserved and looking for ways to improve their lives. We need people and organizations to join us. We are seeing these moments and people outside of Dumas are coming in to assist. Dumas and program partners can help us move it to great impact. This is a way to achieve multiple purposes to improve quality of life,” stated Rev. Arthur L. Hunt, Jr. at the time of this release.
