MEETING NOTICE DESHA COUNTY QUORUM COURT
The Desha County Quorum Court shall meet on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 1:30 pm at the Desha County Courthouse, 608 Robert Moore Street, Arkansas City, Arkansas, 71630, the Courtroom, to consider the resolution below to declare a vacancy in the office of Desha County Sheriff, and to fill the vacancy, to-wit:

RESOLUTION NO. 2026-17
A RESOLUTION DECLARING AND FILLING THE VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF SHERIFF OF DESHA COUNTY, ARKAN-SAS.
WHEREAS, Mitch Grant, Desha County Sheriff, has tendered his resignation for the office of the Sheriff of Desha County, State of Arkansas;
WHEREAS, it is the obligation of the Quorum Court of Desha County, State of Arkansas, to declare a vacancy in the office of the Sheriff of Desha County, State of Arkansas, as authorized by Amendment 55 of the Constitution of the State of Arkansas and Arkansas Code Annotated § 14-14-1309;
WHEREAS, the Quorum Court is further authorized by Amendment 55 of the Constitution of the State of Arkansas and Arkansas Code Annotated § 14-14-1310 to fill the vacancy in the unexpired term by appointment;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE QUORUM COURT OF DESHA COUNTY, ARKANSAS:
SECTION 1. A vacancy is declared to exist in the office of Sheriff of Desha County, Arkansas, by virtue of the resignation of the Sheriff;
SECTION 2. That (name of newly appointed official) is hereby appointed to fill the position of County Sheriff of Desha County, Arkansas, effective immediately, whereupon this resolution shall be duly filed and the oath of office administered;
