Desha County Clerk Valerie Donaldson conducted a Swearing in Ceremony, swearing in four Dumas City Council Members and Police Chief Keith J. Finch during the Dumas City Council meeting held Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 6 PM.
Ward 1 - Romona Weatherford, Ward 2 - Amber Madison, Ward 3 - Diane Fisher and Ward 4 - Roy Dalton were sworn in by Desha County Clerk Valerie Donaldson at 5:45 PM January 12, 2021.
Clerk Donaldson also officially swore in Keith J. Finch as the Dumas Chief of Police.
The regular Dumas City Council Meeting was Called to Order by Mayor Flora Simon at 6 PM, followed by the prayer by Council Member Jared May. Council Member Roy Dalton led the Pledge to the U.S. Flag.
The Minutes from December 8 and December 21, 2020 were approved with one revision.
Romona Weatherford gave the Budge Finance Report, stating the City is in good shape. The Members unanimously approved the report.
After discussing refinancing of the 2015 Water Bond, which would save the City approximately $89,200 dollars, the Council voted unanimously to refinance.
Mayor Simon report included:
*Update on Maintenance Building Project.
*Dumas – Winchester Project.
*RFP for Heating and Air Unit for Police Department – Noah Kinder, Energy Engineering Consultants, Inc.
*Update on Sewage Repair at DTech Building.
*Outstanding Insurance Claims including: DTech Sign; Light Pole on Highway 65; Clarion Window.
*Special Request from the Police Department, giving by Chief Finch was heard, concerning RPS system computer program, which is a system of generating reports. The request was unanimously approved by the Council.
Resolutions 1337 – 1340 adding City Clerk Norma Eldridge to all account at Merchants and Farmers Bank and to remove Shelly Billingsley and Sean McCormick; 1341 – 1242 adding City Clerk Norma Eldridge to all Accounts at Simmons Bank and remove Shelly Billingsley and Sean McCormick; 1343 to use Noah Kinder of Energy Engineering Consultants, Inc., of Little Rock, to sign the RFP for Heating and Air Unit for Police Department, and 1344 to amend the 2021 Budget to add repair of street department backhoe, were all approved.
There were no Department Reports. Department Reports will begin reporting in February
