The Dumas City Council passed two Ordinances, three Resolutions and hired Officer Keith Finch as Interim Chief of Police during the October 13, 2020 Council Meeting at Dumas City Hall.
Ordinance 963
An ordinance increasing the amount charged for water sold to the Pendleton-Pea Ridge Water Association. A motion was made by Martin to adopt Ordinance 963 and seconded by Madison. Roll call was unanimous.
Ordinance 964
An ordinance increasing the amount charged for water sold to the Wells Bayou-Garrett Bridge Water Association. A motion was made by Martin to adopt Ordinance 964, seconded by Weatherford. Roll call was unanimous.
Resolution 1324
A resolution authorizing purchase of an HX30 500/200 RF Ditch Witch Vacuum System and a VT12 Ditch Witch Trailer. Motion was made by Weatherford to accept Resolution 1324, seconded by May and passed unanimously.
Resolution 1326
A resolution giving Mayor Simon the authorization to apply for USDA/Rural Development Community Facility Funds to construct a maintenance building. Motion was made by Dalton to accept Resolution 1326, seconded by Daniels and passed unanimously.
The Council went into Executive Session to discuss personnel. The Council returned and announced they met in Executive session regarding hiring Officer Keith Finch as Interim Chief of Police upon the retirement of Chief Cox in November. Councilman Martin made a motion to hire Finch as Interim Chief, motion was seconded by Dalton and Daniels. Motion carried unanimously. The job will be posted in the newspaper.
The Police Department reported 1019 Public Contacts, 31 Warrants Served, 22 Criminal Arrests, 10 Accidents, 22 Citations. And reported the jail is still operating in COVID-19 mode and they still need cars.
Ricky Helton, EMS reported 115 runs for the month of September. Helton reported that they were going to keep the older truck for another year.
David Byrd, Fire Chief reported 14 calls for the month of September. Four (4) firefighters needed medical assistance after one of the fires due to getting too hot.
At 7:30 pm a motion was made by Martin to adjourn, motion seconded by Weatherford. Meeting was adjourned.
