L. Ashton Adcock, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Merchants & Farmers Bank, announces that B. Page Gill will succeed J. Michael Jones as President of the bank, effective upon Jones’s retirement on December 31, 2020. Gill will continue to serve in his capacity as the bank’s Chief Financial Officer.
Gill, a Dumas native and 2004 graduate of Dumas High School, received a Bachelor of Science degree in both Finance and Accounting, as well as a Master of Business Administration, from Arkansas State University. He also holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Williams H. Bowen School of Law.
Prior to becoming a member of the bank’s staff in 2014, Gill joined his father, Brooks A. Gill, and his paternal grandfather, Marion S. Gill, at Gill Law Firm, becoming the third generation of his family to practice law in Dumas. Marion S. Gill also served as mayor of the City of Dumas from 2005 to 2010.
Prior to her death in 2010, Gill’s mother, Jo Carol Jones Gill, also practiced law at Gill Law Firm and was appointed by then-Governor Bill Clinton to serve as a Circuit Judge for Arkansas’s Tenth Judicial District. Gill’s maternal grandfather, Harold L. Jones, owned and operated Dantan, Inc., a Dumas garment manufacturer that employed hundreds of Dumas residents during its forty-year tenure.
Gill currently resides in Bryant, Arkansas, with his wife, Ashley, a tax attorney with the Mitchell Williams law firm in Little Rock, and their son, Marion Beckett.
