The LEGACY CENTER in West Dumas confirm the GoFresh Distribution based on the weather conditions, was not able to come into Dumas. The Dumas REDI leaders upon unsuccessful efforts to get support to get a route into Dumas utilized their Pine Bluff program partner, House of Bread Deliverance Church with the support of Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington, and were able to get the truck directed to the Pine Bluff Convention Center for distribution.
“To get a truck with $30,000 all the way from Tulsa to Pine Bluff and not be able to distribute the food to the people who need it in Dumas was and is always a challenge. We are grateful to have program partners who can move at short notice and help get people these valuable items. We will work harder to get systems in Dumas ready for future distribution moments in these COVID-19 and inclement weather critical conditions,” stated, Rev. Arthur L. Hunt, Jr., on behalf of THE LEGACY CENTER in West Dumas and other partners including ASC Property Management.
The good news is that this week the Arkansas Food Bank will be at THE LEGACY CENTER at 501 West Bowles on Friday, February 26th at 1pm.
“The Arkansas Foodbank is excited to continue our partnership with The Legacy Center in West Dumas for 2021. We are slated to complete 12 mobile distributions this year providing food resources to families in Desha County. Due to impending inclement weather, the event scheduled for Thursday, February 18th has been postponed to Friday, February 26th. The distribution will begin at 1:00 PM,” stated Regina Taylor Chief Community Initiatives Officer, Arkansas Foodbank.
All persons are welcome. The GoFresh features fresh food for persons in Dumas and across the county. A new date is being scheduled at the time of this release. The Arkansas Food Bank is focusing on Dumas residents who have specific needs especially towards the end of the month. Everything is on a first come first serve basis.
Volunteers and donations are needed for successful distribution and sustainability.
