NATIONAL SUMMARY
Idalia will make landfall tomorrow as a powerful hurricane
near the Big Bend of Florida. Life-threatening storm surge,
wind speeds of 120 mph or more and flooding downpours will
occur near the landfall points. Elsewhere in Florida will
experience heavy rain that can lead to flooding, damaging
winds and tornadoes. Along the coast, especially on the
western side of Florida, storm surge will lead to flooding.
Heavy rain and damaging winds will impact Georgia and South
Carolina as well. Elsewhere, heavy rain will impact New
England, especially in the morning. This heavy rainfall can
lead to flooding in spots, especially in low-lying and poor
drainage areas. Rain will also move into the Northwest which
could cause flooding across northeastern Washington,
northern Idaho and northwestern Montana.
