Desha County Sheriff's Department obtains arrest warrant for Jason Manes; Dumas PD serves arrest warrant
On December 17th 2021 a Desha County Deputy took a report from a women who reported having two personal checks stolen out of her checkbook. The woman told the Deputy that Jason Manes and John Retherford came to her house on or about December 3, 2021 and wanted to “haul off junk” that was in her yard. She states that she knew the two men as acquaintances of her son. She states that they were alone inside her home as she went outside briefly to check on her animals. She states that she did not notice any checks missing until December 12th, when she noticed checks #1001 and #1002 missing from her checkbook. She explains to the Deputy that on December 15, 2021 she contacted her bank about the missing checks and they informed her that Jason Manes cashed check #1001 for $300 at an outside teller on December 6th.
Merchants and Farmers Bank in Dumas was able to retrieve a photograph of Jason Manes from security cameras at the bank while he was cashing the check. Manes was sitting in the driver’s side rear seat of what appears to be a white sedan.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Jason Manes on 4 January 2022 and remained outstanding until it was served by Dumas Police Department on June 5, 2022.
