Small plane crashes in Arkansas, killing sole occupant

HARDY, Ark. (AP) — A small plane crashed in Arkansas' Fulton County, killing the sole occupant, authorities said.

The plane crashed north of Hardy around 2 p.m. Thursday in what’s known as the “quarry," according to Sharp County Sheriff Shane Russell.

I think back to my childhood growing up in Madison County, after our family moved out from Jackson. I remember when Highway 51 was a two-lane road all the way to Canton. Sledge’s was one of the few places you could get gas and also pick up a delectable snack, like hogshead cheese and a RC Cola.
