The AHSAT Foundation Forever43 hosted its 2nd Annual Mental Health Awareness Retreat on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Youth Improvement Boys & Girls Center located at 112 South Main Street in Dumas, Arkansas.
The free community event is designed to promote mental wellness, healing, awareness, and community connection for individuals and families throughout Dumas and surrounding areas. Guests can expect interactive retreat experience stations, one-on-one peer support, real conversations about mental health, community resources, giveaways, door prizes, and more.
Organizers say the retreat was created to provide a safe and welcoming environment where people can feel seen, heard, and supported while encouraging open discussions surrounding mental health awareness.
The event featured “Snacks in Sacks” for guests, photo opportunities, and activities focused on uplifting and empowering the community. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and participate in the “43 Shades of Green” color theme.
Founded from a mission rooted in healing, awareness, and community outreach, AHSAT Foundation Forever43 continues to serve as a beacon of hope and support while remaining committed to making a positive impact throughout the community.
The retreat is free and open to the public. Community members are encouraged to attend, bring a friend, and experience a day focused on healing, support, and growth.
“What impact do you hope our organization makes in the community?”
- The impact that Tracie Mitchell hopes for is that the AHSAT Foundation has on the Community is a major one. Due to the severity need for Mental Awareness support for all citizens on the Dumas and surrounding communities.
“Why is giving back important to you?”
- Giving back is important and so needed here. Being that Mitchell was born and raised in this community, moved away to start my life and career. It’s important to be a be a beacon of hope and light for all people of the community, to show that Dumas has produced great people/professionals.
“What’s one change you’d love to see in our city?”
- Mitchell said she would love to see more community engagement and community development for the youth and all citizens of Dumas.
“How can nonprofits better support families and youth?”
-Nonprofits can better support families and youth by being open, real and present. Also, show families and youth that life is good, as well as remain relatable, as well as provide any and all
available resources and networking opportunities for families and the youth.
“What inspired you to support this cause?”
- AHSAT Foundation has been originated from a place of an unfortunate event and has really opened my eyes to the need of Mental Awareness support. That alone had me sold when addressed, by my best friend and fellow Dumas Native Mrs. Demie Miller, when her premonition was placed in her heart to start this great foundation. And we have been growing stronger since day one.
“What community event would you like us to host next?”
- a community event that is geared to smaller children & middle school children. They seems to have a voice that is not often heard or understood. However, they too battle with difficulties within the Mental health arena, yet don’t know how to express themselves due to not fully understanding the meanings of what they may be experiencing.
“Who has inspired you to serve others?”
- She has so many inspiring individuals, as well as situations that has lead me to serve others and being an inspiration as I serve others within the community.
“What does community mean to you?”
-Community to me is Collaboration, Networking, Openness & Communication.
“How can young people get more involved in volunteering?”
- Young people can reach out to the local hospital, Churches, Food Pantry, Boys & Girls Clubs and Center. There are many opportunities in the Dumas Community for volunteerism.
“What’s one thing our organization is doing well?”
AHASAT Foundation is doing well with Giving Back, being open and transparent and relatable with a clear vision of remaining committed to the community.
