The Arkansas Newspaper Foundation recently selected Dumas graduate Joe Santana, as one of three chosen, state-wide, to participate in the 2023 ANF Student Internship Program.
Santana will intern throughout the summer at The Dumas Clarion.“We are honored to have Santana as our 2023 ANF Student Intern for the summer,” said Linna Jones, Publisher of The Dumas Clarion. “Joe is an excellent photographer and has his own photography business on the side, while attending University of Arkansas at Little Rock.”“I am delighted to come back as an intern and report for my hometown at the Clarion,” Joe Santana said. I ask Joe to tell us a little about his college plans and goals."I am entering my senior year as a Mass Communication student with an emphasis in journalism. I attended Henderson State University for two years and transferred to UALR a year ago.” said Joe.Santana worked for the Henderson State newspaper, the Oracle and for KSWH 102.5 FM The Pulse of Arkadelphia, which is Henderson's Official Radio Station. He also worked and will continue to work for UALR's student newspaper, The Forum, during his senior year. He hopes to one day become a news anchor, but will be grateful for any journalism job that will be offered to him in the future.
