Two men shot at each other on Melrose St.
Dumas Police Officers were dispatched to 38 Melrose St. in reference to a shooting Friday, August 7, 2020 at approximately 6:50 pm.
Upon arrival witnesses stated Lamond Lewis and Lemar Hemphill were shooting at each other. Witnesses also state that the subjects fled the scene and ran est on the fence line behind houses on Melrose St.
Police Officers searched the area for the subjects and were unable to locate them at that time.
The witnesses state that Lamar was standing in the yard of 36 Melrose shooting toward Lemond and Lemond was in the yard of 38 Melrose shooting towards Lamar.
Multiple shell casing were found in the yard of 36 and 38 Melrose. Multiple vehicles were struck by the gun fire. A gray 2012 Chevy Camaro was struck twice in the passenger side finder well. At 53 Melrose St a 2019 blue Dodge Charger was struck om the back passenger side window. At 22 Melrose St a 2004 black Chevy Tahoe was shot through the driver's side back window and exited through the passenger's side back window.
The scene was turned over to CID for further investigation.
License Plate stolen
Dumas Police Officer Kristy Freeman was dispatched to the Dumas Police Department to talk to a man about a stolen license plate Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at approximately 3:45 pm.
Officer Freeman spoke with Donald Bell who stated that the plate was taken after 12 am. On August 4, 2020 off a 2006 gray Ford Focus.
Officer Freemen advised Mr. Bell it would be put in to ACIC and he would be notified if found and also advised Bell how to get a new plate.
Box Trailer stolen
Dumas Police Officer Alberto Garcia was dispatched to 611 N Main St concerning a stolen 6x12 box trailer Saturday, August 8, 2020 at approximately 6 pm.
Bobbie Thompson stated that her trailer had been stolen. Thompson told Officer Garcia she is unable to find the registration, but that it is registered.
