Customer falls at Family Dollar Store
Dumas Police Officer Crystal Martin was dispatched to the Dumas Police Department in reference of someone needing a report from an incident that happened earlier that day Monday, June 22, 2020.
Officer Martin made contact with the manager of the Family Dollar, Sonya Lawson. Ms Lawson stated around 11:25 AM, employees were stocking shelves and a box of dried spaghetti noodles fell on the floor. Lawson stated the employee went to get a broom and dustpan to clean it up when a customer, Ollie Weatherspoon, walked through the area and fell.
EMS was notified and arrived at 11:27AM.
Ms Lawson was advised that a report will be on file.
Criminal Mischief
Dumas Police Officer Greg Freeman was dispatched at approximately 9:35 Saturday, June 27 to #1 Melrose in reference to a broken window.
Upon arrival Officer Freeman spoke with Tyler Davenport who stated he had heard a knock at his door. When he answered the door he heard glass breaking. When he went inside to investigate he found that the front bedroom window was broken. There was broken glass on the inside of the window and the screen appeared to be pried up.
There were no suspects at the time of this report.
Criminal Mischief/Civil Matter
Dumas Police Officer Crystal Martin was dispatched Monday, June 29 to the Taco Shop, located on Highway 65 at Choctaw in reference to a disturbance.
Officer Martin spoke with Jose Perez who stated Ms Zuniga used to work for him and she was upset, screaming at him that he owes her money. Mr. Perez told Ms Zuniga he did not owe her anything and she slammed the restaurant front door twice causing damage to the glass.
Officer Martin spoke with Ms. Zuniga who stated Mr. Perez owes her $200 for one week pay. She stated she did not slam the door causing damage to the glass.
Ms. Zuniga told Officer Martin the glass had been broken for about a year and the police took a report about it.
Officer Martin advised both parties a report will be on file and how to obtain appropriate court papers.
Counterfiet $100 dollar bill passed at Buck's Liquor
On Monday, June 29, 2020 Jimmy Jones reported a counterfiet $100 dollar bill was passed at his liquor store on Friday, June 26.
Jones stated his son was at the store at the time the bill was taken and he believed the $100 in the purchase of $100-120 dollars worth of merchandise.
The $100 dollar bill was confiscated by a teller when his son went to Merchants and Farmers Bank to get change.
Mr. Jones was advised a report would be on file.
Harassment reported
On Monday, June 22, Jacqueline Lee calle the Dumas Police Department to report that she was experiencing harrassment from another tenant.
Lee stated the juvenile granson of Easeline Cotton had been destroying her flowers and leaving garbage near the doorway to her apartment.
The apartment manager was contacted and she stated she was working on a solution to the issue. The manager also stated Lee did not have the consent to plant flowers on the property of the apartment complex.
Lee and Cotton were advised to have no contact with each other as the manager attemps to come up with a solution to the problem.
Lee was advised to keep a log of any other problems with Cotton and turn them in to the manager weekly. Lee was also advised of the affidavit process and that a report would be on file.
Theft of Property
Ruthie Tucker came to the Dumas Police Department Tuesday, June 30, 2020 and stated her husband, Jeremiah Miles, sold their 2009 Dodge Charger to Ollie Gibson the day prior. She stated Gibson kept the tags that Tucker purchased and has them on the vehicle and she refuses to give them back.
Dumas Police Officer Tonianne Stafford made contact with Gibson and she stated Miles told her to keep the tags on the vehicle until Friday when she got paid.
The tags come back to a Ruthie Miles and Jeremiah Miles.
Officer Stafford advised Tucker this will be a civil matter.
