Criminal Mischief
Dumas Police Department SRO Kristy Freeman and Sgt. Crystal Martin were dispatched to Dumas Reed Elementary Tuesday, April 20, 2021 in reference to someone hitting the building causing damage.
The Caller advised the vehicle was leaving the scene.
Upon arrival at the school Sgt. Martin spoke with Kenneth Daniels while SRO Freeman patrolled the area looking for the vehicle.
Mr. Daniels stated a red pickup truck hauling a large farm plow hit the school drop off ceiling causing damage to the metal tin. SRO Freeman was given photos of the vehicle involved.
Thirty minutes later, SRO Freeman saw the vehicle traveling East on Waterman Street. The vehicle continued East from Highway 54 onto Highway 165 where Sgt Martin initiated a traffic stop.
The driver, William Perkins, admitted to hitting the ceiling but stated he talked with some guy and told him he would have someone come fix the damage.
Mr. Perkins was issued a citation for Criminal Mischief. He stated he will have the damage fixed.
Sgt. Martin advised Mr. Daniels a report will be on file.
Theft of Property
Dumas Police Depart-ment Sgt. Tonianne Wernicke and Sgt. Crystal Martin were dispatched to 108 Pistachio Drive Sunday, April 25, 2021 in reference to a stolen gun.
Upon arrival, Wernicke and Martin made contact with Samantha Procell who stated she had her black 9mm Luger pistol with a red beam on it around 1 AM April 25, 2021 in the living room.
She stated she put it in the couch after she was done with it. She further stated her boyfriend Reontrabae Sims and her friend Brittney Dunmore were the only people in the house when she had it.
She stated she went to get her gun, but the gun was missing from the couch.
Sgt. Martin advised her a report will be on file.
