Theft of $1,000 or less- all others
On Sunday, June 11, 2023, Officer Nathan Donaldson was dispatched to 115 Palmetto Street for a stolen bicycle. When Officer Donaldson arrived Deondrick Ward stated he had just returned home after being gone for awhile and saw that his bike was missing. The bike is blue with red and white stripes. Donaldson advised Mr. Ward, the police department would be on the look out for the bike and that a report would be on file.
Theft of $1,000 or less- all others
On May 31, 2023, Officer Dallas Bright met with Earl Stennis. Mr. Stennis stated that his wallet has been stolen and wanted to report it. Stennis wrote a statement with as much information as he could give her. As he was writing the statement, he told Officer Bright that he went to the post office and believed he left his wallet on the counter of the post office.
Bright asked Stennis the contents of his wallet and he said it had a couple of debit and credit cards, his driver's license, and his insurance card. He said there were several cards in his wallet, but could not recall what they all were.
Mr. Stennis also stated that his debit card had been used at Dollar General around 9 am, making two separate transactions. One was $113 and the other for $105. He said his debit card had been used at the tobacco store next to the Dollar General around the same time, again two transactions being done. One for $32, the other for $5. Bright asked Stennis if he had already canceled and reported his cards stolen. He stated he had. Bright took Mr. Stennis's Statement and information that a report would be on file and to notify the Dumas Police Department if any of his belongings were located.
Theft of $1,000 or less- Vehicle Parts and Accessories
On June 13, 2023, Officer Kristy Freeman was dispatched to 110 East Banks to take a report. When Officer Freeman arrived, she spoke with W.L. Witherspoon. He stated that the Catalytic Converter was missing from the church van. Freeman advised Witherspoon there would be a report on file at the Dumas Police Department.
Criminal Mischief-2nd Degree/ Recklessly Destroys
On Thursday, June 1, 2023, Officer Nathan Donaldson was dispatched to 141 Carlton Drive in reference to a woman breaking out windows of her apartment. When Officer Donaldson arrived he spoke to person on scene saying that Donnicka Shephard had busted out the windows. Shephard had recently been serviced with an eviction notice. Shephard was arrested and taken to the Dumas Police Department. She was cited for Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree. A report will be on file.
Theft of $1,000 or less- all others
On June 5, 2023 at approximately 6:16 pm, Officer Rashad Nalls was dispatched to take an incident report. On arrival, Officer Nalls spoke with Makhayla Harris. She stated she was at work at Dollar General when she placed her phone, a black iPhone 11 Max Pro with a cracked back on the register and went back to working on the isle. Harris stated her airpods disconnected so she went back to look for her phone an couldn't find it.
She said she used her Where's my iPhone app and it last pinged in Lake Village. She also believed a white male in a red shirt and blue jeans could have taken her iPhone. Officer Nalls did see were the phone last pinged at from the device Harris used the app Where's My iPhone. Nalls explained there would be a report on file at the Dumas Police Report.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle
On Thursday, June 8, 2023, at approximately 5:59 pm, Officer Raydon Findley was called to the station to handle the transferring of a minor between parties. Both parties were agitated. It was later discovered the women had taken the man's vehicle without permission.
During the handling of the child, the man was served with proper paperwork stating that he was not to be around the child. The woman had already been served prior. The Woman's mother, who has custody of the child, took possession of the child and left.
Once the child left, they continued to deal with the unauthorized use of the 2004 Cadillac Escalade. Findley spoke with the owner of the vehicle. They informed Findley that They were out of town, but would come to make a statement when They returned. They also informed Findley that They wanted the vehicle returned to the man and parked at Pecan Grove Apartments. The man took possession of the vehicle and was informed that a report would be on hand.
