Some of you know me but I’m hoping all of you will get to know me during the next 10 weeks and vote for me on November 8. While I am a member of the Generation Z group, I’m wanting to listen and learn from all generations. Together we will build a team from Gen ‘Z’ (the Zoomers) to the Boomers.
I’m excited to announce that I made the ballot for Dumas City Council! I’m excited to be your very first gen z young man of color with dreams for our city from a seat on the council. I am the only one in the race who will be representing the Generation Z as a man of color. For me this is important.
My mission is to be a model for Dumas. We’ve had some great history and during recent times, but of late, our city has had too many murders and acts of crime that most of us know we are better than this.
My name is Aaron Joseph, and I am honored to become your city council member and I’m honored to represent Gen- Z. Growing up on the west side of Dumas in poverty and not having things to do resulted in boredom. This inspired me to focus on better opportunities for the young generation to keep trouble and violence away, like after school programs, studios, colleges, swimming pools, student housing, workforce programs, and more. I would love to start a program called boys n girls dream hub. We need a place for our young generation, to learn, grow, and have fun. As you know, younger people prefer not to reside in Dumas after high school graduation. Due to increasing violence, other age groups are moving away as well. My plan would motivate the younger generations to live here for years to come. This would keep a close-knit community- The main problem is where the young generation represented on the city council. I’m here for gen z. We need a place for our young generation, to learn, grow, and have fun. Let our voice be known.
The mass shooting on March 19 was not good for us. My generation and all of us have much to offer to make Dumas a great city. My mission is to work with leaders who have positive programs and are open to help bring things to Dumas that are missing. I will be out and about introducing myself and getting to know as many of you as possible.
Beginning this Saturday, August 20th at The Legacy Center at 501 West Bowles, I will be doing a cookout for the campaign from 4pm—8pm. Please stop by get a refreshing moment with me and some of my cooking. It’s free and donations are desired and appreciated.
