The Dumas Library’s Summer Reading Program is in full swing and half-way finished!
In-house programs for children 6 and younger are Tuesday mornings at 10 a.m. On July 13, from 10-11 a.m., the library is presenting “Whooo’s Out There?” storytime. The kiddos will listen to some woodland tales and make a craft together.
In-house programs for children ages 7-12 occur on Thursday mornings at 10 a.m. On July 8, from 10-11 a.m., kids will need their best puzzle-solving skills! Can they figure out which animals invaded the library based on clues left behind in the Animal Detective Agency program? On the following Thursday, July 15, our older summer learners will meet a special guest from the Arkansas Post National Memorial for a fun “Whooo’s Out There” program, including a cool lab experiment!
All Summer Reading participants must be pre-registered. Families, please help us out by only bringing the age-appropriate children to each program. Bringing all children to both programs each week will cause issues with COVID gathering restrictions and library staff can’t guarantee craft supplies for those who didn’t pre-register.
Several contests are offered this year as well! Complete tasks in the Summer Adventure Pack (be sure to post pictures and tag us on social media!) and turn in coupons to be entered into a grand prize drawing. Other contests are open; see details on our Facebook page or in your child’s Summer Reading bags. All contest entries need to be returned to the library by 5:30 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021. Awards and prizes will be given out at the Awards Closing Party on Thursday, July 22, at 10 a.m. If you can’t make it to the party, prizes for winners may be picked up at a later date.
