Da Fade Zone to host free back to school hair cuts
Da Fade Zone barber shop will be host free back to school hair cuts and donated school supplies August 18 and 19, 2023 at the Da Fade Zone.
Da Fade Zone will be offering back to school hair boy cuts with the possibility of girls styling if available. No registration is required.
Children will also be receiving donated backpacks and school supplies for girls and boys.
This is the second year for the shop to host the event with the purpose of giving back to the community. They held the two hair cutting event in Dumas and McGehee with 64 boys participating.
Entertainment and refreshment will be available for the participating children and families.
The event will include the Dumas Police Department police officers and vendors.

Tyree Temple A.M.E to host revival
Tyree Temple A.M.E will be hosting their Dream Team Hub Gathering Thursday and Friday August 17 and 18, 2023 at 7 pm nightly. The revival will be held at 430 W. Choctaw Street Dumas, AR. Rev. Debra Cooper, of Dumas, will be the host pastor and Thursday night speaker and Pastor Tony Kiel, of Henderson, TX, will be the Friday Night speaker. They will also be hosting a free community feeding Friday, August 18, 2023 from 11 am-2pm at Tyree Temple AME. The Menu will be ribs, links, gree beans, potato salad, desert, water or drink.

Union Baptist to host 21st Anniversary of Rev. Isom Cross
The Union Baptist Missionary Baptist Church, 215 North Cherry Street, will be hosting the twenty first anniversary of Reverend Isom Cross, Jr. Sunday, August 20, 2023 at 2 pm.
The Reverend Larry Kirklin, of Pine Bluff will be the guest speaker for the 10 am Morning Worship Services. Reverend Melvin Harris of the St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church or Star City will be giving the anniversary sermon.

District Missionary Kathleen Robinson, of Holy Benton Temple COGIC of Stuttgart, AR will be the guest speaker along with other guest churches. Elder Alvin Jordan, pastor, invites everyone to attend.

Dumas Ballers to host fundraiser basketball tournament
The Dumas Ballers will be hosting their first fundraiser basketball tournament, The South-ern Arkansas Hoopfest.
They will be collaborating with the boys and girls club committee.
They are a nonprofit organization that is working towards building a foundation to help the community youth in social, emotional, educational, and life skill trades.
This event is to help raise money for the constuction of a boys and girls club here in Dumas.
They are very pleased and enthused to have the opportunity to be apart of doing something beneficial and positive for a great cause.
They have invited teams from around South Arkansas that have the same love of giving back to help make a difference in their community.

Desha County Compassionate Friends to oberseve 30th Anniversary
Desha County Chapter of the Compassionate Friends to observe 30th Year Anniversary
All parents, grandparents, siblings and family of a deceased child, and supportive friends are invited to join us as we observe 30 years of service to the bereaved community Saturday, August 26, 2023, 4 p. m. Dumas Community Center, 18 Belmont Drive, Dumas. Theme: “30 years of Making a Difference”. There will be a short program followed by a reception.

Dumas Ballers to host Fundraiser Cake Sale
The Dumas Ballers will be hosting a fundraiser cake sale September 16, 2023 from 10 am -12 pm.
The Fundraiser will be located in front of the beauty/barbershop (Cindy & Toby Shop on Hwy 65.
Cakes for sale include strawberry cake, chocolate cake, 7up cake, Red Velvet cake, caramel cake, and pound cake. The cakes will cost $25. Cakes can be preordered by purchasing tickets.
