SHOPLIFTING $1,000 OR LESS
Dumas Police Department Sgt. Crystal Martin was dispatched to Mad Butcher Sunday, July 24, 2022 at approximately 7:26 am in reference of a shoplifter.
Sgt Martin made contact with Mad Butcher Manager Danny Bennett. Mr. Bennett stated a white male purchased items then walked over to the magazine rack and picked up the Arkansas Football magazine, looked around and stuck it in his shopping bag with the items he did purchase.
The male then walked out of the store. The male is described as a heavy set white male, wearing tan shorts, blue short sleeve shirt and a red hat.
The clerk stated he drove off in a white single cab pickup truck.
Officers and store employees were unable to identify the male in the video.
Sgt. Martin advised Mr. Bennett a report will be on file.
POSSESSING MARIJUANA
Dumas Police Department Patrolman Wayna Green observed a U-Haul truck proceed through a red light at the intersection of HWY 165 and 65, traveling southbound Thursday, July 14, 2022 at approximately 8:37 am.
Patrolman Green initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Green could smell a strong odor of Marijuana coming from the vehicle. Green asked all the occupants of the vehicle did anyone have any type of marijuana or illegal items in the vehicle.
The passenger, 28-year-old Mohamed Hamerulaine presented Officer Green a baggie of green leafy substance consistent with marijuana. Mr. Hamerulaine was issued a citation for Possession of Marijuana and released on scene.
POSSESSING MARIJUANA; DRIVING ON SUSPENDED LICENSE; TRAFFIC OFFENSE
Dumas Police Department Patrolman Wayna Green observed a vehicle with expired tags Thursday, July 14, 2022 at approximately 4:28 pm.
Officer Green initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and approached to speak with the driver.
The 23-year-old female driver immediately presented Officer Green with a baggie of a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana.
The female driver was also operating a vehicle on a suspended license. She was taken into custody on a warrant out of Gillett and issued citations for Possession of Marijuana, Driving on a Suspended License and Expired Tags.
She was cited an released on the citations and bonded on Gillett warrants.
POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA; POSSESSION OF METH OR COCAINE GT 2GM BUT LESS THAN 10GM.
DTF agents conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at Dollar General Monday, July 18, 2022 at approximately 9:50 pm. CID Alan Hernandez and Sgt. Crystal Martin provide back up.
While on scene, the agents asked Sgt. Martin to pat the female down who was identified as 31-year-old Jessica Clark asa Jessica West.
Sgt. Martin asked Ms. West if she had anything in her pockets. Martin also asked if she had anything on her that would poke or stick her. Ms. Martin stated no to both questions.
As Sgt. Martin patted Ms. West down, she located a container, which Ms. West state, “There are drugs in the container, but its not mine.”
Sgt. Martin continued patting Ms. West down and noticed something. She asked Ms. West if she had anything else? Ms. West stated no.
CID Alan Hernandez advised Sgt. Martin that Ms. West has a felony warrant out of our department.
Ms. West was placed in handcuffs.
Sgt. Martin advised Ms. West if she brings anything into the jail thee would be additional charges.
Ms. West stated she did not have anything else and was placed in in the back seat of Sgt. Martin's patrol car.
As Sgt. Martin was talking with an DTF agent, her patrol car began rocking heavily. Martin told the DTF agent Ms. West is dumping something in her car due to the movement of her car.
Ms. West was transported to Lincoln County.
After booking Ms. West into the Lincoln County Jail, Sgt. Martin searched the back seat of her patrol car where she located a clear pipe commonly used for Meth with burnt residue and a small bag of crystal-like substance believed to be Meth under the seat.
Ms. West was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; Possession of Methamphetamine and a Felony warrant for Battery 2nd Degree.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF – 2ND DEGREE, PURPOSELY TAMPERS
Complainant Brittany Corbin called police to make a report Monday, July 18, 2022 at approximately 2:05 pm.
Dumas Police Department Sgt. Crystal Martin spoke with Ms. Corbin, who stated that her and Roshanie Madden got into a fight the week prior. She stated every since the fight, Ms. Madden had been picking with her and making threatening comments. Ms. Corbin stated Ms. Madden sent a little girl upstairs to her door to give her some mail. Ms. Corbin stated when the little girl gave her mail to her, it was ripped open.
Ms. Corbin stated Ms. Madden had tampered with her mail.
Sgt. Martin advised Ms. Corbin a report will be on file. The manager of the apartment was also notified about the incident.
VIOLATION OF A PROTECTIVE ORDER – FELONY
Dumas Police Department Police Officer Raydon Findley was dispatched to a location on North John St. Thursday, July 21, 2022 at approximately 8:30 pm.
Officer Findley was met by a 41-year-old female who stated the Mr. Larry Williams was violating the Order of Protection that was placed between them.
The order is current and valid.
47-year-old Larry Williams was arrested on scene and booked into the system.
INFORMATION REPORT
On Saturday, July 23, 2022, at approximately 12:00 pm, Ms. Deniece Johnson came to the Dumas Police Department to file a report.
Ms. Johnson advised Dumas Police Department CID Alan Hernandez, that late last night (July 22) her 15-year-old granddaughter ran away from home. Ms. Johnson stated that a juvenile relative had been living with her for two months. She said, last night, at approximately 11:00 pm, the two left home.
Ms. Johnson advised she stepped outside and called her granddaughter's name, but both juveniles kept walking. Johnson also advised that she had called the police department.
Ms. Johnson told Hernandez that earlier today, at approximately 10:00 am, the juvenile, who had been staying with her, mother went to Johnson's house to get her belongings.
Ms. Johnson advised that she talked with the mother, while the juvenile gathered her property. Ms. Johnson did not see her granddaughter in the car and was unable to provide further information other than the car was new and was black in color.
Johnson stated that she noticed that the juvenile had gotten some of her granddaughter's clothes as well.
Hernandez advised Ms. Johnson, that a report would be on file, that her granddaughter would be entered into ACIC as a runaway juvenile, and that he would notify Jacksonville Police Department.

On Saturday, July 23, 2022, at approximately 12:14 pm, Dumas Police Department Sgt. Crystal Martin and CID Hernandez were dispatched to a location on South Oak St. regarding a disturbance.
Upon arrival, the officers made contact with a juvenile who identified himself as Ms. Johnson's grandson. He stated that he got kicked out of the house.
The juvenile grandson advised that his sister Ms. Johnson's granddaughter, had left Dumas because their grandmother had made a threatening comment. He advised Hernandez that , as far to his knowledge, Ms. Johnson does not have legal custody of the granddaughter.
CID Hernandez attempted to look for court records on court connection, but was unable to.
The grandson also stated that the granddaughter is in Little Rock with her dad.
Hernandez then spoke with Ms. Johnson, who advised that she wanted the grandson out of her house, but she wanted her granddaughter back home.
Hernandez asked Ms. Johnson if she had any legal documents stating that she was the legal guardian.
Hernandez stayed in the area until the grandson gathered his property.
Cid Hernandez advised the grandson that a report would be on file.
BURGLARY, RESIDENTIAL
On July 1, 2022 Dashonda Tatum filed a report at the Dumas Police Department that someone broke out her bedroom window and entered her residence.
Mrs. Tatum stated that several items were stolen from her residence. There are no known suspects at this time.
CRIMINAL MISCHIEF – 1ST DEGREE PROPERTY OF ANOTHER VALUE $500 OR LESS
Dumas Police Department CID Eric Armstrong was dispatched to Delta Memorial Hospital Tuesday, July 26, 2022, to take a report on property damage.
CID Armstrong spoke with Keona Jackson. She stated in January, Lorenda Smith came to her house and cut her back driver's side tire.
WITNESS STATEMENT – (Identity masked and edited) On the night of January 20, 2022, I noticed a green SUV parked in the road and a girl with puff ponytail and jacket on was at the back door. I saw her bent down by the tire but once I thought she was one of Keona's friends and didn't think anymore about it. More of the witness statement is on file at the Dumas Police Department.
BURGLARY, RESIDENTIAL
Dumas Police Department CID Eric Armstrong was dispatched to a location on Banks St. Wednesday, July 20, 2022, in reference to a break in.
CID Armstrong spoke with Malik Thompson who stated that he left his home at 12:00 pm on July 19, 2022, and when he returned on July 20, 2022 at 1:00 pm his back door was open and his bedroom window was busted out by a brick.
Thompson stated the suspects took some smaller jewelry and a small safe. He stated that he did not know what was in the safe and that he had received it as a gift.
Thompson also stated advised that his alarm system did not go off.
After doing a walk through of the house, CID Armstrong saw a brick with broken glass on the bed in the back bedroom.
Armstrong advised Thompson that a report would be on file.
