Down Syndrome Awareness was Monday, March 21, 2022. This awareness event was created in 2006 to inform people about Down Syndrome, it's developmental and/or intellectual delays, and the medical conditions that may arise from it. Kanesha Grandy is the proud mother of 3 boys and her 1st child, Zaylen McCarrell has Down Syndrome. He has progressed tremendously. He is just like a child that doesn't have down syndrome. He goes to school and on trips, dresses himself, cooks, and dance.
Grandy hosted her 2nd Down Syndrome Awareness Event on March 20, 2022 at the Legion Hut in Dumas, AR. The speakers included Kanesha Grandy, Zaylen McCarrell, Rosa Berry-Horn, his teacher, Mrs. Hampton, his paraprofessional, Ms. Ponda, his coordinator, Takeda Jones, and our honorable Mayor, Mrs. Simon. They had games, bouncy houses, and great food and fellowship. She is looking forward to hosting this event annually. Thanks also to my support team and Q.I. Jackson, Jakyra Williams, Kennesha Stewart, and Merchants & Farmers Bank. Kanesha wants you to know "I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me. Philippians 4:13."
