Boys and Girls Club of McGehee has experienced a significant increase in its membership in recent times, with a total of 211 registered members currently. This is a major improvement compared to previous years, and it is a testament to the efforts of the Club to provide a wide range of activities and experiences for both the children and the community.
One of the recent events that the Club held was a family engagement night, which was an excellent opportunity for families to spend time together and participate in fun activities like building gingerbread houses and watching Christmas movies. The Club also provided free toys for the families to take home, which was a great way to spread some holiday cheer. Both the members and the staff had a great time at the event, and it was wonderful to see the families of our members at the Club.
In addition to the family engagement night, the Club has also started its basketball league again after a few years' absence. This was a much-anticipated event, and the Club had a total of 91 players sign up to participate. This allowed for multiple teams to be formed for each grade, and there is a lot of excitement about watching everyone play. Both the players and the parents are thrilled to be able to participate in this activity again.
Boys and Girls Club of McGehee has also been able to give back to the community in a number of ways. For example, the Club has provided free hand sanitizer to members of the community and has provided hands-on learning experiences for the members in the Club’s care, such as the art project in which Mr. Chauncy had kindergarten students practice writing their letters and names using shaving cream on tables. This was a fun and engaging activity that helped the kids practice their writing skills while also allowing them to have a good time.
Overall, Boys and Girls Club of McGehee has enjoyed spending time with its members and providing a variety of activities for both members and the community. The Club is dedicated to providing a welcoming environment for all of its members, and it looks forward to continuing to serve the community in the future.
