The two words every Southerner hates to hear in the winter: ice storm. Unfortunately, that's looking more likely for portions of the area Sun night into Mon. Here are the details:
Freezing rain is expected late Sunday night through Monday morning before temperatures warm above freezing. Many areas along and north of I-30 and Hwy 167 could see at least a glaze of ice, which will adversely impact travel (especially the morning commute).
More significant ice accumulation is expected over parts of the Arkansas River Valley, Ozarks, and Ouachitas with totals of 0.25"+ (ice storm criteria) likely. These amounts could cause significant disruption with impacts to roads, trees, and powerlines likely.
