Billy Bert French, 94 of Hot Springs Village, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs. He was born January 25, 1927 in Tyro to the late Arch O. and Eugenia Collins French. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Star City and was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a retired farmer and served as Lincoln County Sheriff from 1965-1985. He was one of the founders of the Arkansas Sheriff’s Youth Ranch and served on the board for many years and he also served on the Relyance Bank Board of Directors for over 30 years.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Tanya French; and 2 brothers, Robert French and A. O. French.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Ashley French Steed (Drew) and Jennifer French Griffin (Keith), all of Star City; 1 granddaughter, Lezleigh Altom of Hot Springs; 3 grandsons, Zachary Altom (Amanda) of Fayetteville, Kyle Steed of Los Angeles, CA, and Lukas Steed of Little Rock; 1 great granddaughter, Adilyn Knight of Hot Springs; and 1 great-grandson, Asher Knight of Hot Springs.
Graveside services are 3:00PM Monday, October 18, 2021 at Walnut Lake Cemetery with Bro. Elwin Ollar and Tracy French officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Pallbearers are Tracy French, John French, Kyle Steed, Lucas Steed, Zachary Altom and Daniel French. Honorary pallbearers are the Board of Directors at Relyance Bank. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Arkansas Sheriff’s Youth Ranch, 100 St. Vincent Place, Batesville, AR 72501.
