Mattie Rawson, 86 of Dumas, Arkansas passed away July 1, 2021. As stated on her birth certificate she was “Barned Healthy and Alive on April 26, 1935, in Cedar Glades, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late Alford and Mary Murders. Her parents, son in law Randy Harrison, brothers J.D. Murders, O.C Murders, R.V. Murders, A.V. Murders, and one sister Norma Chapman, all preceded her in death.
Mattie was a member of Rankin Chapel Baptist Church in Dumas, Arkansas.
Mattie married the love of her life George Rawson, January 18, 1957. She enjoyed gardening with her husband George. She was an active member within her church and took pride in organizing fellowship activities for the church. She also had a passion for helping the elderly within the Rankin Chapel community. By far, helping with vacation bible school was one of her favorite ways to give back to the youth at Rankin Chapel Baptist Church.
Mattie retired from Automatic Venders of Arkansas (AVA) after 33 years of employment. She serviced all the vending machines in all plants in Dumas including the hospital, she made many friends during those years at AVA.
Survivors are her loving husband of 64 years, George Rawson of Dumas, Arkansas, daughter Brenda Harrison of Dumas, Arkansas and two sons, Jimmy (Dona) Rawson of White Hall, Arkansas and Jerry (Shea) Rawson of Dumas, Arkansas, three brothers, Robert Murders of Rowell, Arkansas, Albert Murders of Jennings, Oklahoma, Keith Murders of Dover, Arkansas and two sisters, Bonnie Ingle of Cornerville, Arkansas and Erma Lephiew of Star City, Arkansas, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation and funeral service held on Monday, July 5, 2021at Griffin Funeral Home, visitation from 1 PM to 2 PM, services at 2 PM with Rev. Barry Carter officiating and burial following in Jefferson Cemetery, Tillar, Arkansas.
