It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is here and Christmas is upon us. If Sandy and I don't get to see some of you before these holidays, have a safe, happy Thanksgiving and Christmas. Now, I want to talk to those of you that have not been vaccinated. Maybe you should consider getting your shots before Thanksgiving and Christmas get togethers.
If you have gotten this far without getting your shots and have not had Covid, you may have used 8 of your nine lives so please consider protecting your family and friends.
I noticed that Covid had caused almost 9000 people to lose their lives in the state of Arkansas. Desha County has lost too many citizens to Covid, but really we have been much better off than many other counties. Some of this is because we are an "outdoor" county. Many of us work outdoors and don't spend great amounts of time in close contact with our fellow workers. We hunt and fish and of course that is outside. Some of the reason we have been fortunate is because a huge percentage of the people have had their shots. We have many people still wearing their mask. To all those folks thanks, good job and your my hero.
To the ones that have not worn their mask, have not had their shots, you are lucky. 90% of the county has tested the vaccine for you and we seem to be doing ok. We can finish off Covid if we all get our shots. I'm going to say that we will lose some lives in this county because of the holiday season. We will lose some lives because of refusal to take the shots. Some will experience their last Christmas. I have heard and know first hand of several people dying of Covid, I don't know anyone that died of vaccine. Please be a team player, we were. Get your shot.
