Sharon Johnson, of Dermott, Arkansas has been a leader for years to many in the community and especially at C.B. King Memorial School in Arkansas City.
Sharon is always eager to help, listen, and most importantly learn new things. She has competed in Special Olympics Arkansas for over 20 years and has traveled to New Jersey and Seattle to compete for Team Arkansas in Special Olympics USA Games competitions. She has been a member of the Athlete Leadership program for more than five years. Her deep involvement is why there was no surprise when Special Olympics Arkansas CEO, Terri Weir, invited Sharon to sit on the Special Olympics Arkansas Board of Directors. She will serve on the board providing insight and helping to shape the program over the next two years.
"We have thought of Sharon as a leader in our organization for many years. She leads by example and works very hard. She is dedicated to our athletes and the programs we offer. We are thrilled to have her step into this role over the next few years," said Special Olympics Arkansas CEO Terri Weir.
Sharon began her role as a board member April 23, 2021. She joins seventeen other board members from all over the state of Arkansas. The board is led by Chairman John Fournier of Little Rock.
