Two cited for Discharging a Firearm within City Limits
Dumas Police Officers Greg Freeman, Alberto Garcia and Alan Hernandez were on South Pecan and West Waterman Friday, November 13, 2020 at approximately 12:00 am, when they heard an approximate total of three to five gun shots being fired towards the Magnolia Street area.
The Officers drove the Westside Park and spotted a white Chevy Impala parked at the end of the park.
The Officers pulled up to the front of the car and made contact with the driver, Audrick Davis, and on e backseat male passenger, John Goff Jr., and one backseat female passenger, Traniquekia Doss.
Officer Freeman asked Davis to step out of the car. Davis complied. Officer Freeman asked Davis if he had a weapon in the vehicle. Davis stated that he did and also stated that he had shot six rounds in the air. Davis gave Officer Freeman consent to search the vehicle.
Officers Freeman and Garcia discovered a dark green Diamondback 9mm pistol.
Both back seat passengers were asked to step out of the car. Officer Freeman noticed a brown Sears Roebuck 12 gauge shotgun in the back seat next to Goff. Officer Freeman asked Goff about the weapon and Goff stated that the shotgun belongs to his grandfather. Both weapons were ran through NCIC and came back clear.
After the vehicle was searched, Officers Garcia and Hernandez went back and began to search for casings. Officer Hernandez found two shotgun shells on the ground. Officer Freeman was made aware and he questioned Goff regarding the shotgun shells.
Goff stated that he did shoot the shotgun in the air as well. A total of six, 9mm casings and two 12 gauge shotgun shells were recovered.
Both weapons and ammunition were confiscated. Davis and Goff were cited for discharging a firearm within city limits.
Lost Property Reported
Justin Robertson came to the Dumas Police Department Sunday, November 15, 2020 at approximately 6:00 pm, to report lost property he found at the car wash on Highway 65.
Mr. Robertson found a stack of Debit and Credit Cards with owner's name on them laying on the ground at the car wash.
Dumas Police Officer Crystal Martin advised Mr. Robertson a report will be on file. Property has been stored in the lost and found.
Criminal Mischief
Dumas Police Officer Tavion Vaughan was dispatched to Edwards Street Lot 8 Friday, November 13, 2020 at approximately 8:20 pm. Officer Vaughan spoke with Kelley Hollingsworth who stated that she came home around 7:40 pm and noticed the window broken. She also stated that she found a rock on the inside of the house, in front of the window.
Officer Vaughan took pictures of the damage and advised Hollingsworth that a report would be on file.
Theft of Property
Dumas Police Officer Alberto Garcia was dispatched to 205 Pistachio Sunday, November 1, 2020 at approximately 10:00 pm, in reference to a stolen gun.
When Officer Garcia arrived, he made contact with Anthony Jones who stated his gun, P89 Ruger, had been stolen. Jones also stated that when he arrived to his residence at 6:30 pm he notice his gun was missing and he searched first before calling the Police Department at 10:00 pm.
Jones gave the officer the serial number of the gun and also gave a description of the gun, a green/grey color with black grips and is registered with address 14 Evergreen, Dumas, AR 71639.
Officer Garcia advised Jones that a report will be on file and placed on ACIC.
