The Nation's Weather for Friday, May 12, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
Thunderstorms can bring flooding downpours, hail, damaging
wind gusts and even an isolated tornado in southeastern
South Dakota, eastern Nebraska, southern Minnesota, much of
Iowa and northern Missouri tomorrow. Severe weather can also
unfold over West Texas, although the tornado threat will be
low. A soaking rain will continue in the northern Plains,
bringing drought relief but also causing localized flooding
and rises on rivers and streams. A shower or thunderstorm
cannot be ruled out in eastern and northern New England. A
general area of rain and embedded thunderstorms will dampen
much of the Ohio and Tennessee valleys. A significant warmup
will get underway in the Northwest, where records could be
challenged by this weekend.
