W.C. “Dub” Mankin, 88 of Watson, Arkansas passed away January 25, 2022, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Born April 12, 1933, Boles, Arkansas the son of the late Riss and Rhoda Jones Mankin. His parents, and loving wife of 60 years Audrey Dean Mankin and son Darrel Ray “Bear” Mankin all preceded him in death.Mr. Mankin was owner and operator of Mankin Farms, owner, and pilot at Mankin Flying Service, and member of Elk Lodge.
Dub was a hard worker that lived for horse racing season and seeing if he got that lucky ticket. If he was not down on the farm in Desha County, he could be found in Hot Springs sporting a snazzy button up and a cowboy hat. His annual coon supper or birthday fish fry were big events for the city of Hot Springs, stopping traffic and filling up the hotels with his friends from all around. In his younger years, you could find him flying his many planes, whether it was for travel or for the farm. There was nothing he loved more than showing off and bragging on his many grand-children and great-grand children. He will be forever missed by many friends and family, and Hot Springs will never be the same.
Survivors are two sons, Hollis Mankin and wife Sharon of Watson, Arkansas and Joe Mankin and wife Deb of Watson, Arkansas, daughter Teresa Scott and husband Todd of Watson, Arkansas, brother George Mankin of Clinton, Arkansas and two sisters Lavada Johnson of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Sarah Moreland of Watson, Arkansas, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Graveside services held 1 PM, Sunday, January 30, 2022, at Watson Cemetery, Watson, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to donors choice of charity in his memory.
